Work Shops

These sessions are 120 minutes long. They should deal with topics of special interest to medical students, using multiple, brief presentations for a total of no more than 60 minutes , followed by around 60 minutes of discussions.

TB: The Global Emergency

Title: TB: The Global Emergency

Partners: Standing Committee on Public Health, IFMSA (IFMSA-SCOPH),

and Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of WHO (WHO-EMRO).

Speakers: from WHO-EMRO and externals from International NGOs.

Time: 5 hours, divided on 2 days

Subject: A comprehensive presentation of the worldwide situation concerning the come back of tuberculosis and its relation to HIV and the new strategies to fight it.

Through our workshop we are looking for enabling the medical students and future doctors to understand the magnitude of TB problem and establish an international strategy among the medical students worldwide to antagonize the come back of TB & increase the awareness by the problem.

Blood Donation (RVNRD)

Title: New concept in blood donation  (Regular Voluntary Non Remunerated Donation)

              Dr/Nabela Metwally Regional Advisor (EMRO)

Time: 2hours

Subject: Blood donation is one of the most important voluntary works present in the field of medicine, needing experienced staff and highly equipped facilities. In this workshop we will present the new strategies and concepts in blood donation. The speakers will share their experience with the audience. New techniques and equipments used in this field will also be presented. 

Reproductive Health (Family Planning)

Title: Family Planning “Ways and Methods”

Partners: Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Ain Shams University.

Speakers: Dr.Ashraf Fawzy, (Assistant professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Ain Shams University

Time: 2 hours

Subject: Family planning may be one of the key to solve our problems. The workshop will discuss new ways and methods for contraception and birth control.

Beyond the White Coat (A creative approach)

Title: Beyond the White Coat

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Maged Abaza

Time: 2 hours

Subject: A stroll through business life situations and the
skills and techniques needed to deal with them.  The speaker is a
businessman-turned-professor of Marketing after over 40 years of business
experience.
 Tips on skills of communication, presentation, negotiation etc.. are given in
a simple style through recounting stories detailing such situations and how
they were handled.  You can treat this as a bunch of informal mini
case-studies.

Unprotected by his white coat or any other uniform the business person faces
such daily problems and endeavors to solve them using a number of skills and
techniques which will be the subject of this session.  As the session is named
it takes the attendees to another world, a world beyond the white coat.

Organ Transplantation in law, religion &medicine

Title: Transplantology in Law, Medicine and Religion

Partner: European Medical Students' Association (EMSA)

Speaker: Divo Ljubicic "Medical Science Director of EMSA"

Time: 2 hours

Subject: A vivid comparison of international experiences in this field.
It is even more intrigant from Ethical and Religious aspects, to see the world
from different spectacles of students of various religions and cultures.
Participants will find out the most recent information in Medical achievements
and Law.

Design:
Participants will be given roles to play: defence, accusers, jury, judges and visitors.

Everyone will be introduced into a case in first 15 - 20 min.
Then there would be debate and interactions of all sides and judge for 40min.

After that we would make a 10-15 min break for the jury to make a decision, and proceed with final part where decision would be presented and explained.
